The 2009 Men's Health Conference

Recognizing and preventing men's health problems is not just a man's issue. Because of its impact on wives, children, and other family members, men's health is truly a family issue. For the past four years, the LMHO has organized an annual Men's Health Conference. This conference, which brings together men of all ages from Baton Rouge and its surrounding areas, gives men an opportunity to explore ways to better care for themselves and their health.

Each year, local health professionals, organizations, and companies gather at the conference to offer advice and help on various health issues relating to men. Use the links on the left to learn more about this year's conference.

5 Important Reasons to Attend the 2009 Men's Health Conference:

1. Males live an average of 5.4 years less than females do because men are less likely to practice proper nutrition and stress management. The conference educates men on their potentially fatal major health issues.

2. Knowledge of preventative male health issues and advice on how to alleviate them can add years to men's lives and improve their quality of health.

3. The conference will give men the opportunity to speak with health care policy makers who can answer men's medical questions and concerns.

4. Men are 25 percent less likely than women to see a doctor. The Men's Health Conference will give men specific guidance about the annual tests and check-ups they should be getting.

5. Men's health negligence results in enormous costs to state governments and employers. Awareness of men's health issues and preventative treatments can contribute to the improvement of Louisiana's economic well-being.
